James McCann and Selfish Gene comprise of members from Bloodloss , the Drones , Crow , Silvercity Highway.
' the Gene ' was a project put together by James McCann with the idea to take loose arrangements and improvise music around them.
The band recorded first then had to later learn the songs to perform live which they did on no more than 4 occasions around Melbourne over two years.
